Dr. Chaunise “Chaun” Powell is a licensed clinical social worker, educational leader, and systems strategist whose work connects direct care, systems leadership, and public policy. Born in the Bay – Planted in the Central Valley, her work is grounded in culture, community, equity, and improving the systems that shape people’s lives.

As a therapist, Dr. Powell provides mental health services to children, youth, adults, and families. She also brings more than a decade of leadership experience across education, behavioral health, child welfare, and community-based systems. Her work has contributed to major California efforts, including the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative and California Community Schools Partnership Program, advancing stronger connections between education, health, and community supports.

Dr. Powell extends this experience into policy and public service through her service on the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, California Department of Social Services Disrupting Disparities Advisory Committee, San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Advisory Board, and City of Tracy Parks & Community Services Commission. She has also served on a number of boards and advisories in Alameda and Santa Clara County. 

She holds a Master of Social Work and Doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Social Justice. Across her work, Dr. Powell connects what happens in the therapy room, within systems, and at the policy table to build healthier people, stronger systems, and thriving communities.
